What we do
A hedge is either a trim (keep the shape, take off the season’s growth) or a reduction (bring it down and in, sometimes a lot). We do both, for the hedges London actually has: privet, cherry laurel, box, yew, beech, hornbeam, and the leylandii someone planted in 1995 that’s now a wall.
We use sharp kit, cut clean, keep the lines straight, and clear up properly — the bit most people notice is the cuttings on the path, so they don’t stay there.
Timing
Late spring and late summer for regular trims. Late winter for reductions. March to July is bird-nesting season and it’s an offence to disturb an active nest, so in those months we do light trims only and check first. If we find a nest, we stop and come back.
What it costs
From £80 for a standard trim of a small garden hedge, cleared and removed. Reductions, long runs, or very tall hedges needing a platform cost more. Send a photo with something in it for scale and we’ll give you a number.
What it isn’t
We don’t fell trees or do work needing a climber. If it’s a tree, we’ll say so and point you at a tree surgeon.
